A conversation with Nashville artists

Music is a powerful source. It is incredibly influential to people all over the world. Every day new artists aspire to rise from the ashes of older generations of music and make themselves fully known. It’s amazing to watch as new musicians grow and become successful in the career they have always dreamed of pursuing.

The Falconer interviewed a member of the fresh and emerging musical band Truitt. This young band is from Nashville, Tennessee, and their music consists of mostly pop with a touch of soul in it.

Brigetta Truitt

What inspired you to become famous and start a band with your sibling?

My passion of music/art started when I was very young. At 11, I would go on Youtube and search instrumentals of my favorite songs to rewrite new lyrics and melodies that would coincide with my personal life. I realized it boxed me in, so I picked up the guitar to dive deeper in songwriting. Eventually, I wanted my songs to be “produced,” so I turned to Brett, who was already doing music as well. It was a very natural progression working with him. We both just genuinely enjoyed it and haven’t stopped since.

What is your everyday life like?

Busy. Busy. Busy. We work every day crafting our sound. So we usually wake up, hit the gym, eat breakfast, and then immediately dive into making music. We’re evenly active in the business side of music, so we take a lot of meetings throughout the week as well. Another thing we prioritize is family and friends. Therefore, throughout the day, there’s usually a few FaceTime calls, and our nights usually consist of us supporting our friends playing gigs around Nashville.

Is it overwhelming and stressful to be an up-and-coming band? Or is it thrilling to be living out this fulfilled dream of yours?

It’s exhilarating! Don’t get me wrong, it can be stressful/challenging, but we’re so determined and dedicated to being the best musicians we can be. We’ve learned it’s vital to embrace the highs and lows of music. It’s also really inspiring being around so much talent in Nashville. It makes you strive to want to be the best songwriter, performer, artist, etc. We’re so unbelievably lucky to have so many supportive people in our lives to motivate us daily to keep doing what we love. One of my favorite parts of music is the amount of people I get to talk to from all over the world who relate to our songs due to similar emotions and experiences. It’s so cool!

I used to live in Tennessee and I always visited Nashville and because I miss it dearly, what is going on in Tennessee? Especially in Nashville?

The music coming out of Nashville is some of the best I’ve heard yet. We have an amazing pop culture cultivating and thriving here that we’re so grateful to be a part of. Very exciting things for the near future of Nashville pop to say the least.

What advice can you give to anyone else who wishes to one day become an artist on their own?

Do it. My advice to you is pursue everything in your heart that gives you feelings. Time is such a valuable thing, and your life is unique to everyone else’s in the world. So be adventurous, love people, fill your life with whatever makes you happy, and don’t give up just because people might have loud negative opinions.
