As the leaves are falling, the amount of money spent on fall items is rising.

The transition from summer to fall is probably one of the most drastic changes of the year. It goes from being hot and sticky all the time, to cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon, and then downright cold.

Fall is all about layers. Jackets, cardigans, and scarves are essential pieces to every girl’s fall wardrobe. Some of the most fashionable jackets that have made an appearance recently are leather jackets of any color-mainly brown and black, and the army green “bomber” jacket.

The reason the bomber jacket works, besides the many ways you can wear it, is because of the color. Army green is one of the main colors of fall, along with other dark colors and neutrals.

Infinity scarves made their debut a few years back and remain the go-to accessory for anyone looking to give their outfit the final touch. Scarves can be woven knit or made of a thinner, polyester material. They are great in solid colors or prints.

Blanket scarves really took off last fall and winter, and they are sticking around for this season. Although they can be difficult to “figure out” at first, once you understand how to wear them, blanket scarves are the way to go. The bigger the better- after all, the main purpose of a scarf is to keep you warm.

While there is controversy over whether leggings are pants or just something to wear under a dress, leggings are a popular item in most girls’ closets. They come in different colors to match any outfit; however, the classic black legging remains most essential.

As for shoes, any type of boot is in style. Boots keep you warm and at the same time are very stylish. Whether you prefer tall boots, ankle boots, or heeled booties, they work with most any outfit.

Boot socks are a trend that go right along with boots. They are super fashionable with any dress, skinny jean, or pair of leggings when peeking out of a tall leather boot. Leg warmers, which have made a huge comeback from the 80’s, go with this as well.

Fall weather doesn’t only affect wardrobe, but also beauty needs. Cold air means dry skin and dry skin means moisturizer. It is important to keep your hands from getting chapped with lotion, preferably unscented.

The brands Jergens and Curel are some of the best picks for rejuvenating, moisturizing lotion to use on your hands and anywhere else on your body.

Windy days and bitter cold take a toll on people’s faces, being how it is the one area of the body that is exposed the most. Since the face is so sensitive, it is important to get the appropriate moisturizer that won’t clog pores and does its job.

Skin types vary from person to person, but the main rule is: whatever you do, do not use regular lotion on your face! If you imagine how greasy it makes your hands, just think what it will do to your face.

You can find face moisturizers anywhere, from Walmart and CVS to Sephora and Ulta. Just look at the label and ingredients to see which is best for you and your skin. You don’t need to break the bank for this crucial fall product.

While there are mixed feelings about the changes from summer to fall, there is no avoiding it. Fall is a fun, beautiful season, and your outfits should reflect that. Have fun this autumn trying new outfits and remember to stay warm!
